 Re: The Brutalist
It's definitely an ordeal but I thought this was very handsomely mounted and engaging for the most part. The intermission really does wonders and serves as a solid argument for bringing it back to the mainstream. Adrien Brody and particularly Guy Pearce are great. I did not care for Felicity Jones. The score is also fantastic. B

I don’t know if it will be a classic, but gotta be one of the best paced 3 hr long films I’ve ever seen. Didn’t know where it was going and the story kept me engaged the whole time. Great performances and gorgeous production design, wonderful direction and score. Oscar bait at its best.

 Re: The Brutalist
There's a lot of conversations that happen between Pearce and Brody in this movie that could have felt dull, but they really elevate the material. Both deserve nominations.

 Re: The Brutalist
The Brutalist Part One: Very cinematic conversations. It could have been a snoozer under normal circumstances but keeps you engaged up until the intermission with striking imagery and a booming score.
Intermission: I had to pee and was appreciative of the opportunity to do so. Five minutes would have been enough though. The fifteen lasted forever.
The Brutalist Part Two: The Family Guy "it insists upon itself" meme has never so well applied than in B2. It almost turns into Saltburn at times. And the ending is so damn unsatisfactory but grats to Felicity Jones on confronting the rich people, I'm sure that'll garner alot of applause on oscar night.
I'd give part 1 a 7, part 2 a 3 and that evens out to a 5/10 for The Brutalist aka The Snuzalist.

 Re: The Brutalist
Handsomely mounted, beautifully acted (especially Brody and Guy Pierce) ambitious and thematically rich - this is the first true classic of the decade. I absolutely loved it.
To think this epic was made for $10m when studios and streamers are putting out utter trash costing $200m+ boggles the mind.
I must say I was dreading the post intermission part of the film after hearing all the negativity, but I was pleasantly surprised this was not the case and though there is a tonal shift - it is still operating at a similar level to the first half.
Give Brady, Guy and Adrien their Oscars!

 Re: The Brutalist
Good use of intermission. The movie was definitely long but it surprisingly goes by smoothly. Great performances from the whole cast.
