 Re: Sisters (2015)
One gets the sense watching Sisters that it would have been much funnier without a script, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler being allowed to improvise the whole thing. That said, this is a solid comedy with hilarious moments sprinkled throughout. B

A lot of fun - Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kill it, obviously. Ike Barinholtz and Bobby Moynihan are also pretty hilarious.

 Re: Sisters (2015)
This film features almost every problem plaguing mainstream American comedy in the 21st century—belabored sentimentality in the third act, flat and overly bright cinematography, a slightly engorged length, maybe even an uncomfortable stereotype or two—but it is hilarious more often than not, and this is what is most important. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are a nearly perfect comic duo, and it is nice to see the former Liz Lemon play against type as the more disreputable and brazen of the two sisters. And the eclectic ensemble cast is full to the brim with dependable pros and scene thieves, including a post-Trainwreck John Cena, Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest, and an unexpectedly amazing Bobby Moynihan.

I had liked that when I heard that this was how the roles would go, kind of like Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau reversing roles, but the TV ads made me think it was a mistake. Poehler looks fine, but Fey is a better writer than actress and I thought, based on the ads, she should stick to her wheelhouse. Some pointless thoughts, I suppose.

Come for Tina and Amy, keep watching (why leave?) for Bobby Moynihan. He steals the last half of the movie. Most of the hearty laughs that are in the film come from him.

 Re: Sisters (2015)
Ever since This Is The End's advertising ruined every god damn joke, I've tried to avoid watching too much of an anticipated comedy's trailers. I mention this only because it lead to me being unaware that Tina Sley was playing against type. As my new nickname for her should suggest, I was quite happy with that. It may be a bit more shallow than the two big summer comedies Spy and Trainwreck, but this was the funniest of the year for me. There was literally no one else to share the laughs with in the theater (second time this year .. and ever), yet somebody standing outside wouldn't have been able to tell by how loud I was. Tina is obviously MVP, but Poehler does great as well in a less flashy role (this one is literal and figurative ). Amy almost mimics whatever comedic talent she is playing with, desperate to finally be the irresponsible one. Obviously there's no way to naturally create the chemistry that these two have, but they continue to impress even when apart. Moynahan, the guy who plays Morgan on Mindy, and any of the other supporting cast with lines are great. Yet breakout comedy star of the year John Cena is the one who almost steals the movie away from Tina. Vince McMahon should be very very worried! So Tina has the best comedy of the year in film and television. Amy Schumar might be the new face of comedy, but she can eat a bag of dicks if she thinks shes the Queen B. No disrespect, but there's still no touching the Sleyer.

Pleasant enough and breezy but I didn't find it that funny. For an R rated film I think it could've been a little raunchier, or I guess it needed funnier material.

 Re: Sisters (2015)
This movie seems like they came up with the script in about five minutes. However, it's still absolutely hysterical and I'm positive you will have a good time if you like any of the actors present. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are both sensational and work so well off each other, and their dynamic is completely believable (as one would expect). I could watch these two read the phone book and still have a great time. The supporting cast, which is peppered with a who's-who of SNL vets and recognizable faces, is a blast as well. Highlights are definitely Maya Rudolph (give this woman a leading role in a comedy a la Kristen Wiig ASAP Hollywood), John Cena, Kate McKinnon and an absolutely hysterical Bobby Moynihan, who is so funny he almost steals the movie away from everyone else. Re: Sisters (2015)
This is actually one of my favorite comedies of the last few years. Tina fit the party rocker at 40 role like a glove and Amy gave a great performance also with a lot of good facial expression work showing her straight laced personality while also letting out the goofiness at times. Their chemistry is fantastic. In a genre where directors don't stand out I was impressed by Jason Moore's work here. House party movies have been done so many times but there's an art to picking which songs to be playing at each moment and how each colourful partier comes in and out of the picture and when to fire Chekov's guns. Before that the opening act with Tina and Amy going home, going to town and running into a few people moved with a purposeful momentum I enjoyed, and I like the structure of that set-up contrasted with a near chamber piece the rest of the way.
The supporting cast is key of course headlined by show stealing turns by Bobby Moynihan and Maya Rudolph. The sentimentality of the film from Maura's romance to Kate's relationship with her daughter, to Maura and Kate's relationship themselves works. This is a film that understands the value of the straight man. In addition to Maura herself, her love interest James despite Ike Barinholtz's chops playing the most off the wall and comedic role on The Mindy Project is played 100% straight, Maura and Kate's parents and Kate's daughter are straight, Rudolph's Brinda is funny but relatively grounded, and even John Cena's muscle freak is the only one acting like a mature adult at the party. This and the lingering pain of aging the characters feel and nostalgia for the past, help make the characters and their plights feel more real, and thus it's comic moments more natural. Even with Moynihan there is something that feels sad about him that makes his character that much better

 Re: Sisters (2015)
The first time I saw this I gave it a B+. Enjoyed it immensely but like most said there's not much in the way of a plot. But on second viewing I upped my rating to an A-. I almost think I might have found it funnier the second time. I laughed so much. More than during any other comedy this year. It's much funnier than critical darlings Spy and Trainwreck. Not to say that those are bad because I really enjoyed them. I just didn't find them nearly this funny. Fey and Poehler killed it. Oh, and Bobby Moynihan was hilarious. So many quotable lines. Loved this one. Would like to go see it a third time.

Why isn't John Cena getting more roles?

 Re: Sisters (2015)
Hilarious movie even without much of a plot. It was quite weak before the party started but once it starts it just laugh after laugh and some more. The ending left much to be desired but it was overall great movie and I would love a sequel for this.

 Re: Sisters (2015)
Very funny but predictable plotline. Not as good as Spy or Trainwreck, but easily the third best comedy of the year. Those were also predictable, but they were more spoofs making fun of the spy and romantic comedy genres, so it worked better there. Tina Fey is better than Amy Poehler here.
