Fleet of Time [Back in Time]
Fleet of Time [Back in Time] Quote: Fleet of Time (Chinese: 匆匆那年), released as Back in Time in North America, is an 2014 Chinese romance film directed by Zhang Yibai and starring an ensemble cast of Eddie Peng, Ni Ni, Zheng Kai, Wei Chen and Zhang Zixuan. The film is adapted from the popular novel of the same name by Chinese writer Jiu Yehui (九夜茴). It is a coming of age tale of a close group of friends as they experience high school, college and eventually adulthood through the '90s and 2000s. In addition to the film, the novel has also been adapted into a television series.

Re: Fleet of Time [Back in Time]
I totally ran in this film by coincidence, but what a pleasant surprise. I was in a tourbus for 4 hours, and the journey started with this film somewhere at the end. I immediately loved it, but didn't want to jump in and was just hoping to see it some other time. I took a little nap.
I woke up and another film was playing, once that one finished I was lucky enough to see Fleet of Time starting from the beginning.
The film got to me from start to finish. It deals with a group of adolescents, and the story follows them from age 16 to around 20, and then jumps about another 10 years. It's mainly about first loves, and the characters behavior on that. It's really super sappy, but I'm just a sap for that. In that way it's a bit relatable to A Walk to Remember. But Fleet of Time goes deeper, by looking at these charater's lives at different ages. It all feels very real how these characters deal with friendship and heartbreak. It really got to me, as I genuinely felt for the character's emotions. It's very well cast too, Ni Ni is just gorgeous and a great actress. I didn't notice her so much in Flowers of War, but she just excels in this. Eddie Peng, I've never seen before, but he's one of the most popular actors from Taiwan right now, and it's totally justified.
I look forward to giving this another re-watch soon.
