Do you have another idea for a unique analysis?

Pixels

What an absurd film. I couldn't wait for it to end. It was just kiddie fare. I mean, Peter Dinklage was amusing with, among other things, his "pay no taxes" wink to Armageddon, and Sean Bean was excellent as the take-no-shit army lieutenant, but Adam Sandler and Josh Gad made up the majority of this film and they were kind of unbearable. Not to mention Kevin James, who as the President (???!!) was pretty fucking moronic. Anyway, I didn't have any nostalgia with this film because, as I'm not 40-years old, the original King Kong and Pac-Man were a bit before my time, and many of the other games I'd not even heard of. If they made another such film for the Master System and Mega-Drive generation (we're talking Streets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, and Alex the Kidd) then I'd be interested. One thing I must just say about Pixels, though, is that the visual effects are magnificent.

Oh, and "Lonjitude"? ... at first I thought I was hearing things when the Gad said it, but then another character said it exactly like that again. Are they serious? Is that how you Americans say it?

Can't comprehend that Americans say it differently, huh, Chip? Nah, just straight in there with the insult to make your own insecure-self feel warm inside.

Saying Longitude like your saying Long is the incorrect way to pronounce the word.

Just researched. Apparently both goes, I guess the difference is American and British English.

Of course. I'd just never heard the butchered American version before. It sounds so, so, so wrong. I've watched many American films before and I've never heard them say it like that, so to hear it in Pixels was a surprise.

I'm glad I reignited discussion in this thread (for the wrong reason), but I do remember one thing I found funny. Josh Gad's solo performance of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" where he starts to hump the ground (and Brian Cox's subsequent dumbfounded reaction) was very funny.

I enjoyed this beyond the ridiculously predictable and cliched romance. I liked that Sandler didn't play a doofus in this movie, and Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan were good too. Though Dinklage's obsession with Serena Williams didn't make much sense, as she is totally built like a man. James was kind of a non factor, but Josh Gad is unbearable, and I was never even a bit invested in his creepy alien romance subplot.

But the film is very fun beyond that. It really feels like something that would have been really popular in say, the 90's. But we've become jaded and can't appreciate an old fashioned kids movie like this any more. I think the RT score should at least be in the 40-50% range.
