Grandma is a 2015 comedy drama film, written, produced and directed by Paul Weitz. The film premiered at 2015 Sundance Film Festival on January 30, 2015 and served as the closing night film.

It is Lily Tomlin's first leading role in twenty seven years after co-starring with Bette Midler in 1988's comedy film Big Business. It is the second collaboration between Tomlin and Weitz, who previously directed her in his 2013 film Admission.

Lily Tomlin deserves an Oscar nomination for this and possibly even a win. She's absolutely fantastic - hilarious and heartbreaking - and deserves the lion's share of the praise here. The rest of the supporting cast is also strong including a memorable Julia Garner, Marcia Gay Harden, Judy Greer and Sam Elliott. It manages to accomplish a lot in its very brief running time and packs quite an emotional wallop. It's sweet and sincere, and another winner from the underrated Paul Weitz. A-

Yeah Tomlin is fantastic here and with the way the Oscar season is looking, she can still very easily get a nom here. Really everyone does a great job and it has the right mix of comedy and drama, as well as a strong pace, that it ends up being this great little film.
