Re: Grizzly (2015)
I kind of expected it to be better but it wasn't bad.

Re: Grizzly (2015)
The Edge is still my all-time favorite killer bear flick, but this was a solid effort IMO. I like the cast a lot and the location was used well. I can't say this enough, but it's refreshing to see a creature feature with an actual budget, that's not some crap being aired on the Syfy channel. That being said I wish this movie didn't have so much dodgy CGI. It got really annoying especially towards the big finale, but overall I thought it was a decent, entertaining timewaster.

Grizzly
In the 1980s, there was Jason. In the 1990s, there was Ghostface. In the 2000s, there was Jigsaw. Now...there is Bart the Bear!
Seriously, if you replace all mentions of "bear" with "killer", this would be a beyond generic, TV-movie slasher film. The bear pops up when the film requires tension. Every single thing about this film is horrible. Generic score, awful effects, shaky cam, dire dialogue, and simply bad acting from all. As I was watching it, I wondered what it took to get actors to do these movies. I mean, you have a reasonable cast in Thomas Jane, James Marsden, Billy Bob Thornton, and Scott Glenn, so how much is enough to sell your integrity? I am sure they are not paid anywhere near $1m. I mean, they are known, but not that well known, and they don't add much in terms of draw. Would $300k each be about right in terms of salary? I am really interested what guys like this take home. They are, sort of, run-of-the-mill actors with no real thespian talent. Anyway, the film is crap.

Eh! I knew you probably wouldn't like it Algren, and honestly I don't blame you considering the movie could've been so much better. Still, I have seen so much worse, but it's sad when you can only settle for a decent creature feature these days instead of something more. The genre just isn't what it use to be back in the 80's/90's when mostly practical effects were being used and directors actually put effort into the movies.

Re: Grizzly (2015)
Effects were the least of its problems, though. Sure, CGI flash-effects are annoying, but the film just had an inane plot with lazy performances thrown in. Everything about it, technically, was just low-budget, and artistically it was clueless.
