11th WOKJ MP Awards - Nominations today at 8:30 EST
Let's get this baby started. After Gravity kicked ass and took names last year, winning seven WOKJ MPA awards, I believe we will have a much more competitive race this year. I want more ballots again. C'mon, bring it on. Magnus, I want you to annoy people into voting again! Please read the rules and the procedure carefully. Voting Process:Send me your five nominees for each category below. What is important is that you RANK your nominees from #1 to #5 because of the points system. UNRANKED BALLOTS will NOT be counted. If you cannot come up with five nominees for each category, then send me less, but I would REALLY prefer if you all tried to come up with 5 for each category. The Categories:Best Picture (only five nominees here) Best Director Best Actor Best Actress Best Supporting Actor Best Supporting Actress Best Ensemble Best Original Screenplay Best Adapted Screenplay Best Animated Feature Best Documentary Best Foreign Language Film Best Cinematography Best Editing Best Original Score Best Original Song Best Makeup Best Visual Effects Best Art Direction Best Costume Design Breakthrough of the Year (before or behind the camera) Best Sound Best Horror Film of the Year Funniest Comedy of the YearWhat's new this year:- Best Foreign Language Film and Best Documentary categories: to be nominated a film has to appear on at least three ballots. A mimimum of three films (each) need to reach that threshold for the category to be active. Also, as before, if less than ten people vote in either of these categories, the category will also be skipped. DEADLINE: Wednesday, January 28th, midnight PST Send the RANKED ballot to me before the deadline!DON'T FORGET TO RANK THE NOMINEES FROM 1 to 5!You are allowed to change/upgrade your ballot until the deadline. If you do so, send me the entire corrected ballot, not just the corrected category. Important: Do not vote for any movies that you have NOT seen. If I have a grounded suspicion that this is the case, I will call you out on that. Click here for the FYC ThreadClick here for the Categories Clarification ThreadClick here if you want to present a category

Hopefully A Most Violent Year reaches here before the due date as the nationwide release is on January 30th (don't really understand why they'd wait that long considering Chastain's strong chances at an Oscar nom).

I'm guessing BP lineup will be Gone Girl, Birdman, Boyhood, Interstellar, Whiplash.

I think Guardians might sneak in. This is WOKJ, not the Oscars.

Well, I don't have a clue in that area. I don't know Magnus at all. I thought he loved the film. Is that not the case?

Re: 11th Annual WOKJ Motion Picture Awards - Nominations vot
Gosh that would be the worst BP lineup. If even Guardians can't get in then there's no hope for KJ. We'll always just be Oscar adjac + a few similar films that didn't get any pushes (like Blue and ST12 last year).

Re: 11th Annual WOKJ Motion Picture Awards - Nominations vot
I mean I will vote for Guardians and it is my #1 film of last year, but it does not have the passionate love that blockbusters like TDK, TDKR, Batman Begins, King Kong and Inception had (all nominees here).

The common ground is that only dramas are real movies. I'd like to break that way of thinking here at my favorite movie forum.

I am also in full support of Whiplash. It is a very small film and I love to see it getting lots of passion. Once Guardians fails to get nominated, I will throw all my support behind Whiplash.

I think nobody will care if you leave, Magnus. But to counter your insane comment, Lecter should just announce that he would leave if Guardians doesn't win. People would care a lot more.

I wish instead of "Best Original Song" it was "Best Use of Music" or something. The Guest would be my pick for that. Killer soundtrack.

There is a thread in the Cinemania that gets resurrected each year after the awards.
