http://www.nouveaucinema.ca/Unfortunately Shame sold out rather quickly, otherwise I'd have caught that as well.

Re: Sleeping Beauty (2011)
An intriguing premise, but "Sleeping Beauty" is only occasionally interesting and ultimately too cold and poorly executed. Emily Browning (The Uninvited, Sucker Punch) could not carry this film. I can't help but think this may have worked a bit better with a more capable leading lady. I've never found Browning to be a particularly poor actress but I guess I've never really seen her in a role as demanding as this. Her lack of range really showed here. I'm tempted to call her performance mediocre but at times she's so bad that mediocre seems too kind.
In the end "Sleeping Beauty" is undeniably empty and, forgive me for using this as I believe this term gets thrown around too much, pretentious.

I agree with you about that subplot with Lucy and Birdmann. It was weird. I wasn't really sure what was going on there.

Re: Sleeping Beauty (2011)
One of the most unintentionally (?) hilarious films I have seen as of late. The dialogue! My friends and I were in stitches at some parts and complete bewilderment at others.
