I recently watched the Diredtor's Cut on DVD which takes more time to develop the characters. It is a wonderful ensemble piece and - unbelievably as it sounds - you can see the guy who made Rambo out-act Ray Liotta, Harvey Keitel and Robert De Niro (and it's not like they weren't at the top of their game). Too bad first time director James Mangold never lived up to this movie again... B

Just saw it again yesterday and loved it. Stallone is sooo good here. Loved the story, the 'little' moments and all of the other actors especially Liotta and Sciorra (??). Awesome ending too. A

Copland is a fairly decent cop thriller, but nowhere near as good as some make it out to be. The plot is somewhat confusing and the acting by the ensemble is generally good, but not outstanding. It drags at some spots and while the finale is cool, what leads up to it is rather unrealistic. Still, it is definitely one of Stallone's best performances.

Re: Cop Land
Cop Land is just an excellent film, I re-watched this recently as part of a small 96 - 2000 Stallone viewing day, it's dramatic with a compelling corruption angle. The cast is superb and the cinematography depicting a small cop town is stylish with Mangold showing off his smooth story telling skills. It's a great film that hits the right marks.
