The Lady (2011)
The Lady (2011)Quote: The Lady is a French-English biographical film directed by Luc Besson, starring Michelle Yeoh as Aung San Suu Kyi and David Thewlis as her late husband Michael Aris. Michelle Yeoh called the film "a labour of love" but also confessed it had felt intimidating for her to play the Nobel laureate.

The Lady
Really bad. It sugar-coated the atrocities in Burma and focused on a more politicised pressure rather than violent oppression. The worst that the Burmese army could do was to cut her phone line once in a while. If you want a real reflection of how devastating Burma is, check out Rambo (2008), not this badly acted, wishy-washy crap fest. If I were to believe everything that happened in this film, Burma would seem like a pleasant place to live. The screenplay is one of the worst ever, and the performances were awful. Michelle Yeoh isn't known for her acting skills, and it shows. But sadly David Thewlis was also uninterested, and the less said about the two sons the better. The film's aim was to chart the political journey of Aung San Suu Kyi, not highlight the state of the country, but surely the two go hand-in-hand.
It was a cliché of a biopic, too. Don't let Luc Besson direct anything besides action movies. The result is something like this. It's TV-level at best.
