 Lord of the Flies (1990)
Quote: Lord of the Flies is a 1990 American survival drama film directed by Harry Hook and starring Balthazar Getty, Chris Furrh, Danuel Pipoly, and James Badge Dale. It was produced by Lewis M. Allen and written by Jay Presson Allen under the pseudonym "Sara Schiff", based on the 1954 book Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. It is the second film adaptation of the book, after Lord of the Flies (1963).
The film differs in many ways from both its predecessor film and the novel. Lord of the Flies centers on Ralph mainly, as the children try to initiate a society after crash-landing on an uncharted island, but things go awry.
The film was released on March 16, 1990, by Columbia Pictures. Upon and since its release, the film has received mixed reviews, generally more negative than its 1963 counterpart.

Re: Lord of the Flies (1990)
Another film I watched based on a (popular) book and I thought this was a reasonably known film too. But I guess overestimated it that way and it's not a very strong film indeed. I was hoping it would be something like another film with kids in the lead like Stand By Me, but it doesn't come close to that classic. The kids performances are pretty much just good all around in this though and it has a good concept too. But it's iffy in the execution, some of the dialogue feels forced, like taken straight from the book and the story doesn't flow that naturally either, it's more like different acts that miss cohesive tissue. However, it is pretty atmospheric, the sound is good too and it has some nice production values also. With a run time of only 90 min. it's an easy watch as well, just not the type that leaves a much lasting impact.

I do not think I ever saw this one, but I did see the 1963 version. That was at school. At the time I didn't find it all that great but I do appreciate my teachers the older I get with the choices they made and the stuff they tried to get us all interested in and to critically dissect.
