Life Itself is a 2014 American biographical documentary film about Roger Ebert, directed by Steve James. The film is based on Ebert's 2011 memoir of the same name.

Pretty good and heartfelt.

I also just read that it was actually someone else doing the narration, pretty crazy as it sounds exactly like Ebert.

I watched it tonight. A very solid documentary, though perhaps not the stone cold masterpiece among masterpieces many willed it to be. I would give it around a B+. The first act is a bit rushed and generalized as it races headlong through Ebert's early life and career (and his alcoholism and subsequent recovery), but the segment focused on his hesitant friendship/at times nasty rivalry with Gene Siskel is a fascinating slice of behind-the-scenes showbiz melodrama, and, of course, it is hard not to be moved by the third act as the focus turns to cancer, mortality, and legacy.

It is a shame the film completely ignores Richard Roeper and the surely interesting story of the iconic At the Movies' eight-year second chapter.
