 C.R.A.Z.Y.
C.R.A.Z.Y. Quote: C.R.A.Z.Y. is a 2005 French-language Canadian film from Quebec. The film was directed and co-written (with François Boulay) by Jean-Marc Vallée. It tells the story of Zac, a young gay man dealing with homophobia and heterosexism while growing up with four brothers and a conservative father in 1960s and 1970s Quebec.

Here's my original review from the Foreign & Independent forum in October 2005: Bradley Witherberry wrote: C.R.A.Z.Y.: Quebecois-nderful! C.R.A.Z.Y. is an excellent coming-of-age film set in Quebec in the 60's, 70's, and 80's - the soundtrack, set design, and the screenplay perfectly evoke the feel of those days. Very funny, sad, and true. It addresses it's themes universally and I highly recommend checking it out. Even English Canada reviewer's are falling all over themselves with great reviews! Or check out some of the IMDb User Comments, or C.R.A.Z.Y.'s own website which includes trailers and a listing of the awesome soundtrack which ranges from Patsy Cline to Pink Floyd. Some of the reviews mention that Canada is considering it for their foreign language Oscar nominee, if so it would be hard to beat... 5 out of 5.

This was a great film!!! I've only watched it once so my rating could go up to an A on another viewing, but for now it gets a 9/10 (A-). This movie didn't even close to the attention it deserved in the US. They didn't even give it a limited theatrical release here.

Yeah, I really liked it a lot. At first it reminded me, a lot, of Amélie, with the stylish camera tricks, snappy editing, and slightly fantastical undertones, but then it morphs into something else and becomes a lot more serious and dramatic, though without sacrificing too much of its playful form. The characters are all likeable and charming, though a bit too unrealistic and one-dimensional, and the acting from all involved is surprisingly solid. The music choices are great, it weaves together multiple storylines without getting lost, and it's got a great sense of humour. A pretty delightful and enjoyable dramatic fable.

 Re: C.R.A.Z.Y.
I rented this from BB just a week or so ago.
I enjoyed the film. I liked the progression through time and the cast of characters and the family relationships. Plus, I enjoy hearing the french so that's a plus too.

Hopefully the director's current film Dallas Buyers Club will get more people aware of this superb film!
