I thought this was FAR more intense than Hurt Locker.

The final raid aside, there was one single really intense sequence in this film (and I think most of you know which one I am talking about).

The Camp Chapman attack was very tense. Actually reminded me of The Hurt Locker more than any other scene.

Unless you're talking about Maya getting shot at.

Nope, I was talking about Camp Chapman. That moment reminded me of the intensity I felt in many scenes in The Hurt Locker. I mean I knew what would happen, but it still kept me at the edge of my seat.

There were more intense scenes in Hurt Locker. But I thought this was building tension throughout and I loved that.

The Hurt Locker is almost an Aliens type experience. Nonstop, ever building suspense. Zero Dark Thirty's suspense is more intellectual and measured.

It's kinda not suspenseful in any level outside the raid sequence. And I'm starting to think that sequence works mostly cause of Chris Platt being kinda awesome.

You know his name is Chris Pratt, right? He's not related to Oliver.

I'm not sure. The first time I thought it was the usual typo, but then he wrote it again...

The final end scene depends on your politics....

If you were ecstatic that Bin Laden faced ultimate justice, you get the satisfaction of seeing him be killed and see some of his body with the main character looking over it.

I found the raid scene a bit underwhelming but found the ending very satisfying.

While the comparisons to Leni Riefenstahl are over the top (Bigelow is a very pedestrian director, nowhere near Riefenstahl's talent) - - there is no question that ZDT is pure propaganda - - another weapon in the ongoing holy war.

If you think it's a coincidence the US military chose a female director and a lead female character POV for this film, then you are squarely in the target audience for this brand of propaganda.

Is that a high grade or a low one?

I like Chastain but dont think she was better here than in The Help. The writing had some horrible points. And some of the shots/editing was just plain weird; random fade blacks are for TV shows going to commercials not for motion pictures. with that said, can't deny the subject is captivating and the ending so highly satisfying. We got him!

Post Re: Zero Dark Thirty
I'm slightly disapointed. It's a good movie with one or two great moments but that's about it. I wasn't on the edge of my seat like expected, not even during the climax which I thought would be much more suspenseful. Chastain was good but I didn't cared one bit for her or the other characters. I know this is supposed to be this super-realistic movie but that scene when they finally shot Bin Laden could have been a bit more spectacular or memorable. It's a movie which is interesting to watch, but more in a documentary kind of way, it's just fact after fact (don't know how much really is a fact, though). A few minutes less wouldn't have hurt eiter.
