Sure would have been nice to have a sound effect there. You know, something that sounds like a blunt crash or a squishy impaling.

But if that happened, 12-year-olds in the UK wouldn't be allowed to see it.

There's absolutely no sound effect there. And I have absolutely no idea how Neeson killed him. If the bad guy was impaled, wouldn't we have seen what he would've been impaled on first as setup. I thought if anything he had got him with his tiny knife. To be honest though, I had long stopped caring about what was going on. People are right when they say this is just like the first. The only problem is that it's nowhere near as fun as that film was. And unlike the first, this seemed to be edited in such a way as to hide the fighting. Either they believe Neeson has lost a step and felt the need to hyper edit around it, or they thought the fights would be more exciting hyper-edited. They're not. If anything they're dulled down because of it. And since when did the daughter (and the henchman chasing her) develop super jumping powers? In that chase on the rooftops, they all cleared a gap that had to at least be thirty feet wide. It was laughable.

This just sucked.

And I'm so glad we found out she passed her driving exam. I was on pins and needles, kind of like how I was at the end of Speed 2.

i sneaked into this after my screening of "7 psychopaths". i wholeheartedly regret this bad choice, this could be the worst movie i've seen in theatres this year. at least i didn't pay for this crap.

I forgot about that in Speed 2: Cruise Control. That was some great Summer fun. Although bad, it was a brand of bad that was acceptable. Nowadays' bad is just pure shit. I don't think I've given out as many F's every year for the past 5 years as ever before.

Finally watched the unrated version and that scene is much more effective.

He impaled his head in something sharp and there's sound too, lol.

It's still awesome, and it's fine that we now know how the main bad guy was killed.

I thought I reviewed this but my comments are not in this thread. Perhaps they were on Box Office Mojo before it shutdown. Anyway, I just watched this again and many of my criticisms were not a problem this time around. I think perhaps most of it was because 1) I saw the cut Chinese version and 2) I expected it to be as good as Taken, which it just couldn't live up to. But seeing this after seeing the disaster which is Taken 3 makes this one look like a masterpiece. The third one is missing anything cool and technical from his skill set. In the first, it had loads of that stuff, and in the second it has all of that grenade-distance test stuff plus the counting while kidnapped etc. The fight scenes were not as choppy in Taken 2 as in Taken 3, but the final fights were not cut at all (it seems) in the Chinese version, so my comments remain on those as being crap.

Read the first page. We don't see that or hear the sound effect in the PG-13 theatrical version. As you said, it probably wasn't cut in the Chinese version.

The Chinese version was cut, too. I watched a DVD version recently where we do see the hook.

So you saw an Unrated DVD.

I guess so.

Seems like the smart way to go. I unintentionally waited for the third one, but at least I'll get to see it in its intended form.

This is by far, the worst of the Takens.
