 Desu nôto [Death Note]
Death Note Quote: Death Note (デスノート Desu Nōto) is a series of two live-action Japanese films released in 2006 and based on the Death Note manga and anime series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The films primarily center on a university student who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of a supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it. The two films were directed by Shūsuke Kaneko, produced by Nippon Television, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Japan.
A spin-off film directed by Hideo Nakata, titled L: Change the World, was released on February 9, 2008.

 Re: Desu nôto [Death Note]
Just finished watching the anime. I saw the first two films a little over a year and loved them. It's interesting even though Kira is a mass murder, the movie does not paint him as evil. Instead it lets the viewer decide whether to side with Light or L. Its the rivalry between the those two which drives the series. Although L is one of my favorite characters in history, I couldn't help but root for Light's quest for justice at times.
So has anybody else seen it or the anime?

I've watched the entire anime a few times, and it's one of my favorites. I also own both movies and the manga (if you pick the manga up, go with the recently released Black Edition Volumes). The story is one of the best out there.
All the characters in the story are wonderful, but I was siding with L the whole time.
As for the first movie, it's a solid adaptation and the changes made to the story work pretty well.
You should look into Code Geass now, Flava'd.

I'm about halfway through it. I like it alot, but I wish they would do more stuff like the cat hunt episode. I couldn't stop laughing.

 Re: Desu nôto [Death Note]
You were right, Code Geass did end up being better. Its ever-growing impressive cast of supporting characters gave it the edge, where as Death Note only had the cops and the other Kiras. And Lelouch was much easier to support than Light. He showed compassion for family, friends and allies, even as he was constantly lying to him.
Any other recommendations that have that kind of quality?

I don't know if I prefer Code Geass over Death Note or not. The ending of Code Geass remains possibly the best ending I've ever watched, though.
I would recommend Durarara!!. The story isn't comparable to Code Geass or Death Note, but the quality is great. It will keep you engaged throughout.
