Beauty Shop wasn't that bad. It has it's moments (well, actually, Alicia Silverstone has HER moments). It's definitely not better than the other two Barbershop movies, but a good movie on it's own. A big difference between this and the other ones was that unlike the others, Beauty Shop never gives you a chance to know all the characters. The only people in this movie that actually gets known is Gina (Queen Latifah) and Lynn (Alicia Silverstone). Also, it's story isn't as good. However, there's a few scenes that had me laughing, a lot. Then, there's that one scene with Alicia Silverstone, and, well, you'll find out. Definitely a good performance by Queen Latifah. Alicia Silverstone's lame, mountain-girl accent bugged me, but that's all washed out with that "scene". Overall, I did enjoy Beauty Shop, but it's not Barbershop. C+

Definetely underrated but it isn't as great as it could have been. I thought it was really funny though, Latifah and Silverstone were great in it.
7/10 (B-)

Meh.
Yet again, poor Alicia Silverstone. Being saddled with a ridiculous part with a ridiculous accent is no fun.
Yeah, thought Beauty Shop was mildly enjoyable but incredibly forgettable. I'm struggling to remember things about this movie despite just seeing it yesterday.
Queen Latifah was pretty good, but the script gives Gina no background depth, so...odd.

I was going to see this this on April 2, but I saw Sin City instead. I will be seeing this on DVD though and maybe in theaters.

Grade: C
A decent comedy that is not terrible or excellent. Alicia Silverstone's accent really started to bug me.

B-
Would normally be completley under-par for its unoriginality and being bland, but it is saved by a few moments and really memorable performances. Latifah is good, its Alicia Silverstone who really steals the show though. Shes absolutely fantastic. In my mind its her personal best since Clueless, and for straight-up performance she might even be better here. Its too bad it isn't that great of a movie, because it should've gotten at least some sort of recognition. I'd say its definitly the best comedic supporting role of 2005, and is up there with Vince Vaughn for comedic role period.
On that note I also thought Kevin Bacon did a hilarious job, I wouldn't mind him trying comedy a little more. He worked his character quite well. The talk, the walk, the clothes. The rest of the supporting cast like Barbershop has surprisingly quite a few faces to recognize. Andie MacDowell, Djimon Hounsou(Gladiator/In America) Mena Suvari(American Pie movies/Sugar and Spice), and some more.
Its still not as good as Barbershop, but I didn't mind it. I liked the pacing in it, it was strung together and finely-tuned well, even if the script and idea fell short.
