Quote:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a 1937 American animated film based on Snow White, a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It was the first full-length cel-animated feature in motion picture history, as well as the first animated feature film produced in America, the first produced in full color, the first to be produced by Walt Disney, and the first in the Walt Disney Animated Classics canon.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre on December 21, 1937, and the film was released to theaters nationwide by RKO Radio Pictures on February 4, 1938. The story was adapted by storyboard artists Dorothy Ann Blank, Richard Creedon, Merrill De Maris, Otto Englander, Earl Hurd, Dick Rickard, Ted Sears and Webb Smith. David Hand was the supervising director, while William Cottrell, Wilfred Jackson, Larry Morey, Perce Pearce, and Ben Sharpsteen directed the film's individual sequences.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was one of only two animated films to rank in the American Film Institute's list of the 100 greatest American films of all time in 1997 (the other being Disney's Fantasia), ranking number 49. It achieved a higher ranking (#34) in the list's 2007 update, this time being the only traditionally animated film on the list. The following year AFI would name the film as the greatest American animated film of all time.

In 1989, the film was added to the United States National Film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Eh, Disney quickly got better, peaked, and then was never able to recover after the WWII.

Not my favourite early Disney picture, but it's still a classic.

It is a cute film that might not be as impressive if it wasn't the first major Disney movie. Snow is very likeable, not too deep of a character, but you can see why everyone is so taken with her. It was nice to see the scary eyes in the forest become a bunch of cute and helpful animals, the not everyone acts how they look theme being another big part of Disney going forward. The movie could definitely have used some padding at the end, though it is understandable that they needed to wrap it up when they did. The two things that don't hold up well, other than quality of the voice-acting, is basically all the Dopey humor and an overprivileged white man riding around kissing girls in their sleep. I feel like, in 2020, people would ship Snow White and Grumpy - that tension was real.

On its own merits this is a B. Maybe add a + for historical significance.

This is not a favorite of mine, but it’s decent. Cut about 20 minutes of cutesy dwarf filler and it’s a great movie. Other than the extremely slow pacing outside of the Queen scenes, definitely a very good first outing for Disney that would set the direction of the studio in motion for the next century.

Its good but the pacing is deliberate (maybe for today's standards). There have been so many versions of this so I don't think this is the best version out there but as a movie it works very well.
