 Re: Four Christmases
It seems that Vince Vaughn and Christmas go together like Heath Ledger and prescription meds.

Add Reese Witherspoon to that combo and I think this movie was clearly made as a christmas present for Satan

 Re: Four Christmases
Better than I expected after the terrible trailer. It's still very lightweight and forgettable but it's enjoyable for the most part. The film actually starts off hilariously but loses comic momentum as it progresses. Vince Vaughn (more subdued than usual) and Reese Witherspoon are both likable and actually get us to care a little bit about their "generic comedy" characters. The very stacked supporting cast (Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Mary Steenburgen and Jon Voight, all Oscar winners, play the parents) don't really have enough screen time to stand out although I did like Kristin Chenoweth as Reese's sister. The film's more dramatic final act doesn't really work but the movie is so short that it's almost not noticeable. If you go in expecting the next holiday classic, you'll be disappointed. But if you're looking for something disposable to enjoy and then forget about it pretty quickly after, this fits the bill. B-

Pretty funny, but never hilarious. Just an enjoyable Christmas comedy.

 Re: Four Christmases
I'm pretty much going to agree with the consensus here.
This is an enjoyable holiday comedy that pretty much delivers exactly what's expected from it. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but it's very entertaining and there are plenty of funny moments to keep you entertained throughout. I definitely laughed out loud a few times (mainly during the first half). Both of the leads are charming and capable, especially Witherspoon, but the supporting cast doesn't really make much of an impression due to their limited screentime. Standouts from this bunch would probably be Sissy Spacek and Kristin Chenoweth, however. This isn't exactly going to get you in the holiday spirit or provide the heartwarming feeling that many Christmas films do these days, but as a disposable romantic comedy it's solid and definitely worth seeing. Is it worth seeing if you have an extraordinary dislike for Reese Witherspoon? Does she die at the end?

 Re: Four Christmases
Better than expected given the usually craptacular nature of most recent Christmas comedies (i.e. Christmas with the Kranks). The audience in general seemed to enjoy it. Even at a scant 85 minutes (sans end credits), it started to drag at the end. Could have cut a few minutes there since it was obvious what had to happen.

Way funnier than I thought it'd be. The ending was too cliche' and predictable though.

 Re: Four Christmases
I am pretty much with the majority here.
It's not that bad at all. It may seem episodic, but that's what made the story work. Nice brisk pacing, and some good funny moments, but not memorable of course. The actors did what they could.

 Re: Four Christmases
It's not very good. There are many scenes in the film that are funny and the film did make me laugh a lot, but when the two leads have next to no chemistry, chances are the film isn't going to work as well as it should. The film gets by for the first 30 minutes or so, but the film begins to derail when Mary Steenburgen's character begins to talk about her love for Pastor Jim. From there on, the film isn't very good. And maybe it was due to certain scenes not working (79 minutes minus end credits - that's really all they had to offer?) but the fact that Robert Duvall, Mary Steenburgen, Sissy Spacek, Jon Voight (especially him) and even to a small extent Dwight Yoakam (I know, who cares, but it would've been nice to here him speak outside of that church scene) aren't really given much more than a cameo's worth of time to work with, is just insulting. You have decent actors here. GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO DO! And as much as I like Kristin Chenoweth and her cleavage, her character probably should've disappeared.
So, it had a decent start but it quickly turned for the worst. And someone needs to tell Vince Vaughn to shut up once in awhile.

 Re: Four Christmases
Wow, I wish I could break the spell one way or the other but I can't. There's not a lot to hate here, but nothing to praise either. The cast is likeable enough to sustain the thin, 80-minute film. Doesn't hurt that I like Reese and Vaughn. I can't imagine liking the film if you hate one or the other (or both, as I assume some do).
One thing this movie reminded me of was an hour-long Christmas episode to a sitcom. That's all it really felt like. We were dropped into these characters' lives, we kept moving at a considerably quick pace (I never felt 80 minutes go by that quickly... it didn't even have enough time to make me think "Wow, I'm glad it's only 80 minutes") and that was it, boom. Done.

FOUR CHRISTMASES - 7/10 ( B )
It's pretty forgettable once it's over, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit while it lasted. Some parts were very funny and it was entertaining overall. It gets less humorous as it goes along but the first couple of visits were a riot.
Much better than I was expecting after the lame ads and poor reviews.

 Re: Four Christmases

Vince Vaughn should stay away from Christmas comedies for the rest of his career. And if he doesn't at least I should have the smarts to stay away from Christmas comedies starring Vince Vaughn. This was just bad lazy filmmaking which lasted for only about 80 minutes, but felt a whole lot longer than that. Sure there are a few chuckles here and there and Witherspoon/Vaughn are charming. But given the high-profile supporting cast of Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Jon Voight this movie is just a huge huge waste of potential as it goes from one cliché to another leading up to the cliched ending. Not only does it not offer anything new (not that I'd expect that of a Christmas-themed flick), it also cannot score by telling an old story in a funny way. Definitely one of the worst representatives of the Christmas films subgenre.
