I love this film. It made for riveting viewing when I first saw it, in large part because I didn't know about the ending. Great stuff!

Post Re: Planet of the Apes (1968)
This is a film that is very misjudged as it is now seen as a crappy looking ape movie, it is actually a very deep Sci-Fi tragedy

I re watched this on AMC today and if you actually pay attention to the film and ignore the bad ape masks, the film has a very good message. The whole speech by the Ape at the end at about the true nature of human beings was very disturbing yet very true.

The ending that looked so over the top and melodramatic before was actually just perfect for the scene.

I actually got it this time. He said "you manic's! you guys actually did it"
That just killed Taylor's beliefs of the humans being a great species as they actually nuked each other knowing that they will all be destroyed.

Very tragic in the end and a film that keeps you interested even though it looks so outdated.

That is what makes this and The Day the Earth Stood Still Sci-Fi Classics.

I raised this from a B- to a B+/A-

A sci-fi classic.
