BITCH SLAP - 7/10 (B-)

An entertaining exploitation flick. I'm sure most will disagree with me though and find it bad, but I thought it was pretty fun. If it's a mess, it's a hot mess :P.

Some hilarious lines (quite a few actually) make the film entertaining. The acting is hard to judge as it's supposed to be bad. The special effects and the effects-laden action sequences are horrid but part of the charm. The actual fight scenes are well-done though (choreography by Zoe Bell, of Death Proof fame) I hope they make a sequel with a different group of women.

Best end credits ever. Hah!

Tarantino would love this movie and I hope he sees it and produces a sequel for its makers.

Apparently, a 2 hour, 30 minute director's cut will be released if the film does good enough on DVD. The movie was already too long but I'd still want to see what other flashbacks they cut out.

This movie actually has a lot of tonal similarity to another movie I recently saw on DVD, Give 'Em Hell, Malone. Both are purposefully cheesy, ultra-violent throwbacks to films of yore that while too long, still manage to entertain.

If you liked the following you have a good chance of enjoying Bitch Slap:

- Smokin' Aces (One character even looks like a long lost Tremor brother)
- Crank
- Sin City and Grindhouse (Both parts)

I personally didn't like CRANK :P.

I'd be interested in seeing a Director's Cut, as well as a sequel.

I think if Tarantino had made this exact same movie people would love it and think it was brilliant.
