I actually thought I haven't seen this Almodovar previously, but I quickly remembered it. And then it was clear why I've forgotten it. It's not really good.

Almodovar's straight movie, if you will. This is a shining point of his career in the 90's. Though many of his 90's movies remain unavailable, this along with Talk About My Mother and The Flower of My Secret established a certain maturity for Pedro.
Great performance by what's his name, Penelope Cruz shows up in what is a great opening scene, the Spanish society as seen by Almodovar magnificently realized.
I've always liked the wheelchair basketball scene for some reason.
