Re: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Just like all other fantasy movies that aren't on the scale of LOTR/Potter even TGC-awful.
The product placement was even worse.

Re: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is a good fantasy thanks to strong special effects, a likeable cast, and a decent enough plot. This film, like The Sorcerer's Apprentice, works well with putting fantasy and mythological ideas into the present day. Some plot points seem a bit childish, and some conclusions come out of nowhere without any build up or explanation. Outside of those problems though, the plot works and can be a bit enjoyable. The cast is good enough here with Logan Lerman doing exceptional as Percy Jackson and Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson (who is odd to see here after his completely different kind of role in Tropic Thunder) give solid backup. The effects are also strong and don't overtake the film. It doesn't beat The Sorcerer's Apprentice in fantasy/mythological film of the year so far, but it is miles ahead of the dreaded Clash of the Titans. If DVD sales are strong enough, it'll be nice to see the next book in the series get adapted to the big screen. **1/2

Re: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
I voted A, but it's really an B+/A- for me. It's a fun ride, but it didn't carry the same weight as most of the Potter movies. For me, way more positives than negatives though. 1. Casting was great for this. I especially liked Alexandra Daddario as the daughter of Athena. 2. The special effects were top notch. Especially cool for me was Medusa (I'll never look at Uma Thurman the same way again), the hydra, and the shot of Olympus at the end where the Gods are giant and the demigods are normal sized. That was very cool. I am surprised, but so happy that they green lit a sequel for this.

Re: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
This is one of the worst movies ever made in the history of ever. Just absolute garbage. I wanted to rip out my eyes while watching and stomp on them just to put them out of their misery. Everything from the plot to the casting to the acting to the visual effects to the music were just god awful. The script is the worst script I've ever seen any blockbuster except maybe for the sequel which has to be just as bad even despite peoples complaints about the first one. This is quite possibly my least favorite film ever ever ever ever except possibly the sequel which manages to be just as bad. F -

He can suck a pussy. It's extremely obvious the difference in caliber between the Potter and Jackson films. The worst film in the Potter series is infinitely better than this. They do not even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence this is such a disgrace.
