I saw Kites tonight - - or permit me to be more specific - - I saw Brett Ratner Presents Kites: The Remix tonight.

This is the 90 minute re-cut of the 130 minute Bollywood crossover film.

I enjoyed it - - the Indian Titanic of the desert - - the bread and butter of Bollywood, action mixed with romance - - but here it is stripped of the big dance numbers that make up the final element of the form.

But, now that I've seen the Hollywoodized version, I just know that the full version will already be plenty westernized, and I believe it will turn out to be the fuller experience.

As it is, I fully enjoyed the amped out melodrama of the story and the old school driving stunts of the chase. The otherworldly beauty of the two leads, Bárbara Mori and Hrithik Roshan just add to the pleasure of watching this hybrid b-movie delight.

Next up: I'm going to catch the original version.
