Michael Shannon shines in this wonderful art film with hints to the noir genre. When Shannon's character John is sent to tail a man named Harold (Frank Wood) traveling from Chicago to Los Angeles, he'll discover more about his career and relate more to Harold based on events in his past. The film leaves the mystery and curiousity throughout but also manages to be lax and enjoyable at the same time. Shannon's performance is worth noting but so is Amy Ryan's acting as Miss Charley. The film has some laughs to go along with it but with the way the film is presented, it'll be hard for general audiences most likely to catch on. Still, it's a wonderful film. ***
