Too meta for its own good, but there is some ingenuity lurking around the corners. It's not bad.

If that's too meta then what's New Nightmare? :funny:

I must not remember NOES3 all that well...but how exactly is it very meta? I mean it has the protagonistfrom the first film returning and there's a Freddy in the dreams as well as a Freddy skeleton in reality fighting at the end and all...but meta?

6/10 -> C

Step up from the second part, not only in story (as it actually makes some sense with the first movie), but in effects (which are quite good in today's terms even), kills and of course Freddy. If only the story was more thought out it would actually be a pretty good take on thoughts and ideas about dreams and what they are.

my second favorite after part 1. the part where freddy uses phillip's veins to turn him into a human puppet is friggin classic.

Probably the fourth best Freddy film. I remember the blonde chick getting her head shoved into TV/Freddy after burning herself with cigarette ends to stay awake.

In my dreams Snrub, you'll always be beautiful and bad. And think that a pair of flick knives is a special power on a par with being the master wizard.

Hah! I'd completely forgotten about that! Evidence that we need to watch more crappy films together. It's been a while since we've really sat down and watched a film as bad as Ricki-oh just for its quotability.

Do you remember our whole late teens/ early twenties, catchphrase-driven humour that we seem have thankfully abandoned in favour of witty insightful observation-driven stuff? One of the few "bon mots" I remember fondly is the Mohican-inspired:

"In mah dreams I'm crap... and ugleh!"

I kind of miss those more innocent days when simply repeating a meaningless phrase could make us splutter into our drinks.

"I said where's the fucking Bourbon!" The best Freddy line hands down!

Not really frightening, but a fun horror movie, I've never been particularly scared by the Nightmare films so they've never reached the heights of Halloween in terms of horror, but they are leagues above the Friday films as they at least were always different movies and some good characters, great kills and Robert Englund was more than just a unstoppable killer. There was a reason why he was unstoppable, and he could make you feel at ease and then just pounce on you.

I like the characters for the most part, and there is an interesting story and some great effects.

B+

This film is exactly what the other basic 4 sequels tried to be, but none really matched it. New Nightmare was a great new revision of the mythology though.

4/5.

I love this one, way better than part 2.

When I was a kid, I used to feel sorry for the Tv-Girl....now she's a pain in the ass. Hah.

I thought this was quite good and maybe tied with the first for my favorite in the series. This time Freddie represents depression, and the group of traumatized teenagers they build the world with are very effective. I felt bad anytime one of them died. Despite that, the movie is kinda fun though and it's easy to root for them to come together and defeat Freddie once and for all.

It does become a little bit too much by the end. I liked the skeleton fight, but the dream war itself was surprisingly dull, and I don't even remember how the one guy died.

Also Laurence Fishburne looks weird as a young man with hair.

Solid horror sequel.

2,5, and 6 are pretty bad but have their moments. Englund remains great.
