 Big Big Quote: Big is a 1988 romantic comedy film directed by Penny Marshall and stars Tom Hanks as Josh Baskin, a young boy who makes a wish "to be big" to a magical fortune-telling machine and is then aged to adulthood overnight. The film also stars Elizabeth Perkins, and Robert Loggia and was written by Gary Ross, with Justin Schindler and Anne Spielberg. The story was heavily inspired by, though not an actual remake of, the 1987 Italian film Da grande.
Big is one of four age-changing comedies that were released in the late 1980s. It surpassed the success of Like Father Like Son (1987) starring Kirk Cameron and Dudley Moore, Vice Versa (1988) starring Judge Reinhold and Fred Savage, and 18 Again! (1988) starring George Burns.

Re: Big Great, great movie. One of Tom Hanks' best performances easily. The movie so captures the simple joys of childhood and a realistic approach of a kid pushed into the adult world. I've always loved this movie since I was little.

On a side note, this movie has one of the most elusive soundtracks ever. When I do find it listed, it's $50, just cause it's so rare. Also, there is an internet mystery on if there was an alternate ending to this movie or not. Many recall seeing an ending on TV where Josh is in the classroom and looks behind him to see a girl who looks an awful like Susan.

Re: Big Its a fun movie that I liked a lot growing up, but like ET I just can't sit through it anymore. I'd rather just enjoy the memory I once had watching it then watching it today.
