Re: Bringing Out the Dead Often too playful and flashy, especially when viewed in light of its dark subject matter, but it does a great job transplanting Scorsese's and Schrader's vision of New York from the 70s to the 90s. It's essentially a remake of Taxi Driver, but it does it terrifically.
It's also kind of an interesting Christmas Carol parallel, if you choose to look at it that way. Each of Cage's ambulance partners could be said to correspond to one of the Dickens spirits, showing him his past, present, or future. I thought, at least.
