Re: The Tale of Despereaux
I found this to be a really really boring film that dragged on way way to long. The voice work is distant and uninspired with the animation being a mixed bag as well. Its better than Delgo but not by much.

Re: The Tale of Despereaux
Old school fairy tale - - you know, the kind where the witch eats real children...
Very dark story within a very compelling world.
Three species are represented (four if you count the cat), and each ones' realm is stylishly delineated.
The animation was simply stirring.
The score was too.
Yet, somehow the whole thing didn't all completely gel into one whole whole...
9 out of 5.
(Plus, ya just gotta love producers stepping out of the safety of the simple cute-animals-zone and into rather disturbing psychological terrain - - hooray for Framestore!! Bring it!!!)

Re: The Tale of Despereaux
I just loved the book so to no surprise the movie was a lot of fun. Was the book better? By a mile. But I thought the movie at least did a decent job of adapting it. MB was perfect for voicing Despereaux too.
