 Project Grizzly
Project Grizzly Quote: Project Grizzly is a 1996 National Film Board of Canada documentary about the lifelong project of Troy Hurtubise, a man who has been obsessed with researching the Canadian grizzly bear up close, ever since surviving an early encounter with such a bear.
The film documents Hurtubise's diligent work to improve his homemade "grizzly-proof" suit of armour, his efforts to test its resilience, and his forays into the Rockies to track down the grizzlies he dreams of meeting. The film manages to capture the humor of the project as well as its sincerity. It is directed by Peter Lynch and produced by Michael Allder.

 Re: Project Grizzly
It's pretty funny, but kinda awkward in the regard that you're laughing at this guy's ridiculous suit and attempts to test it instead of with him. Apparently Hurtubise was really shocked when he heard people laughing at the movie, because, for him, it was a sincere and honest research effort. So it feels like a rather unethical documentary from that standpoint.
Also, the third act, when they travel to Alberta to test the suit against an actual grizzly bear, is hopelessly boring and slows the film to a crawl. Instead of more comedic action, we're left with a bunch of idiotic monologues from Hurtubise and his colleagues, none of whom are that bright. It turns the whole thing into a farce.

 Re: Project Grizzly
The premise sounds very amusing, I must admit.
