A phenomenal action film that is exciting and intense from beginning to end. Bruce Willis and especially Alan Rickman give great performances. Love this one.

One of the best action movies ever made, but it also contains the typical limits of the genre. Perfect if you're looking for some light fun.
B+ or 8.5/10

Re: Die Hard
It's easily one of the two or three best action flicks ever made.

Re: Die Hard
Pretty good until the ending where it collapses like a house of cards.

Die Hard
After watching A Good Day to Die Hard yesterday, my wife wanted to see the first three movies, so we started with this one. Man, I've not watched it for a while but it's still the action classic that I think of it as. Bruce is super cool and the comedy is intertwined in a way that it's still an action movie and not a comedy (something that cannot be achieved these days with The Expendables 2 failing at that).
Rickman steals the show (as he also did a few years later as the Sheriff of Nottingham), but all are a pleasant watch, even that annoying Ellis twat. Argyle is great in his small role and Virgil is pretty fun too. I love the scene in the 7/11 where the cashier doesn't believe that he's buying all those cakes for his wife. Then there's Dwayne T. Johnson, what tool. It's just full to the brim of quotable lines, memorable idiots and full-on, kick ass, 80s action. I love how the film just sets itself up with ease, another thing that is hardly replicated nowadays. Modern movies always feel the need to burst out of the gate, but Die Hard knows it has the goods so it waits. Nicely done.
A+

Re: Die Hard
It holds up really nice. I will be watching the rest of the series in the coming weekend but I cannot remember any of the movies topping this one up. The only one that I remember being great is 4th movie i.e. Live Free or Die Hard.
Bruce Willis is so good here and the movie takes its own time to setup the premise nicely even if there are a few things it borrows from here and there.

Re: Die Hard
3 is awesome. It’s the least die hard as it was a rejected Lethal Weapon script, but Willis and Jackson’s banter is phenomenal. Even has more weight today with the current climate
Die Hard A+ With a vengeance A+ (Weak finale though due to production issues) Live free A (a big surprise but the pg13 rating hurts) Die Harder C A good day to fuck off D

Re: Die Hard
This is a great, classic action movie, but its not my favorite Die Hard film. I understand why Willis became so iconic in this role afterwards though and the villains here are just fantastic with Alan Rickman being the most memorable of them all, but man even as a kid Vengeance just resonated with more than this film and still does to be honest.
