Quote:
Soylent Green is a 1973 American science fiction film directed by Richard Fleischer. Starring Charlton Heston, the film overlays the police procedural and science fiction genres as it depicts the investigation into the brutal murder of a wealthy businessman in a dystopian future suffering from pollution, overpopulation, depleted resources, poverty, dying oceans and a hot climate due to the greenhouse effect. Much of the population survives on processed food rations, including "soylent green".

The film, which is loosely based upon the 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room!, by Harry Harrison, won the Nebula Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film in 1973.

Man this is where Charleston Heston's overacting pays off.

When he learns the truth about Soylent Green and
Spoiler: show
says "Soylent Green Is people"
, its really tragic.

Despite the fact that everyone (hopefully) knows that...I think a spoiler tag would be nice.

You can, ofcourse, put spoiler tags in the future for anything really, I just hope you wont.

Could understand recent openers, but this one came in '73. Plus, this is a spoilers allowed forum.

And everybody already knows that Soylent Green is soya.

Officially the all-time most spoiled film in history!

(Can anyone name one that has been spoiled more often in more mediums? I've seen t-shirts for gawdsakes!)

Before it achieved the above "honor", it was actually a pretty cool film among my circle...

Actually, soya - - lent(ils), from what I heard from an interview with Harry Harrison...

Maybe..."Luke, I am your father."
Soylent is #2 though.

Well ESB, Soylent Green and Planet of the Apes all had totally unexpected endings and were mostly remembered for such as well.

Some people dislike Heston for his over dramatic acting in Ben-Hur and Ten Commandments, but it really worked well in The Planet of the Apes and Soylent Green.
