I was totally surprised by this. I went in expecting it to be a bit disappointing, but it turned out to be a definite improvement over the solid original. All of the racial satire was sharper, there was actually something of a plot, and even the George Bush part was funny (the fact that they successfully turned the president into a stoner/sympathetic character is amazing). And let's not forget about God (Neil Patrick Harris). But there were definitely moments that just had me shaking my head (watching Kumar jack off...and finish all over his own face - for example).

I can't wait for Part 3.

That was such a wtf! gag to start the movie, I totally didn't see it coming (pun intended). But I thought it kind of worked.

I also loved emo Harold showing up at the end of Kumar's flashback. :funny:

Btw, has anyone watched the "Dude, Change the Movie" Feature on the special features? It's pretty clever, the best part about it is the commentary in the background as you pick the choices or in the screen you press at the beginning for it to start.

I didn't like it much...it is entertaining but not very original or memorable. Don't care for the original either...

I haven't seen White Castle yet, but this movie was hilarious. I can't wait for the 3rd, I'll be there at Midnight.

This is kind of a letdown.

It's definitely not as sharp or off-beat as the first one, instead going for generic laughs and obvious humour. Rob Corddry's character is most to blame for this; both H&K films flirt with racial stereotypes and openly mock our assumptions, but Corddry is so one-note that there's none of this to be found with his character. He's too harsh of a villain, something the first one didn't need (and indeed was better off without). He's loud and brash and unsubtle, and it drags the entire film down.

It also tries too hard to be something it's not. The first worked so well because it set down this singular goal of getting to White Castle, and based the whole film around that. This one is not nearly as simplistic, instead going for something more high-brow and romantic. Kumar breaking up the wedding was horribly reminiscent of Wedding Crashers, and not in a good way. Whereas part of the first one's humour was derived from the inherent ridiculousness of needing to go to White Castle, this one is far too serious and down-to-earth, and it hurts it.

It's still pretty hilarious, though, and the Neil Patrick Harris stuff saves it. You could certainly do a lot worse as far as comedies though. Even so, I was disappointed. Oh well.
