I find it hard to think how anyone thinks AOTC is better then ROTS,

ROTJ is better then ROTS.

Both films have a fault for being so uneven.

However ROTJ is way more fun with space battles and with Jabba the Hutt. The final scenes with Luke and Vader and the Emperor are some of the best in the series.

ROTS really only got good when Anakin turned evil really. Last third of the film was very good but the first 2/3 were not.

I actually think the 1/3 of Sith was the best and felt the most like one of the older films. The 2nd half is so fucking rushed it feels like a highlight reel (Which makes it pretty hard to dislike)

Here's the issue with Lucas. If he could have divided the third film in three films the prequel trilogy probably would have been loved. People never wanted to see the Rise of Anakin or his tragic love story. They wanted see Darth Vader at his most powerful.

The last 70 minutes or so of Sith are the best stretch in the entire franchise. It has nothing to do with matching up to the original trilogy -- there's just some really great stuff there.

Call me a sucker for Greek drama, which is essentially Episode III's climax. I would say something snarky and insulting to deflect your questioning of me, but I see Garrus and just think, "Nah, he just needs a hug."

Watched the original trilogy in its original form over the past week. I used to really enjoy Return of the Jedi as a kid, but now it's so disappointing. I think it stems from the horrible writing between the main 3 of the cast.

My biggest issues with it:
-Leia seemingly doesn't react at all due Vader being her father this entire time
-Han doesn't even seem to remember Lando just betrayed him, even though it was an hour ago for him
-Vader has nothing to do but move from place to place for the first 1.5 hours of the movie, which is such a jump from its dominating power and control in Empire
-The Death Star plot all over again (though the space battle is one redeeming factor)
-The entire cast of Jabba's palace (with the exception of Jabba)
-20% of the script seems to be characters translating for other characters
-The look of Lando's co-pilot

Probably a B-/C+ for me now.

The final 30 minutes are the best of the series, IMO.

For me, Return of the Jedi is the best of the original trilogy. I very much think the Jabba the Hutt parts are some of the best sequences in all of the Star Wars movies, they are just so out there and unique. The finale, which takes up half of the movie, is also very well executed, and builds off of Empire's two pronged finale and would inspire the filmmakers to try a 4 pronged finale for Phantom Menace, thought that ended with mixed reactions. The Ewoks are very cool, and I hope they make an appearance in an upcoming SW film. The showdown between Luke and Darth Vader and the Emperor is probably the most satisfying I have ever seen (one that Harry Potter vs. Voldemort could also have achieved had they not just tried to make it look cool in 3-D and actually had most of the dialogue from the book). I just fucking love this movie and there is absolutely no quality drop from the previous 2.

A+

I will watch the original trilogy before I see A Force Awakens. We watched the prequel trilogy already this year and it was a shit experience. I think watching this trilogy will be a better experience as they are better films.

Wasn't quite as good as ESB for me, but there is still so much to love about this movie, especially in the last 30 minutes. The scenes between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor are beautifully executed and the final bit during the evacuation was pretty damn emotional. The Jabba Hut stuff at the beginning was weird, but I enjoyed it because it was so far out there and definitely made you feel like you were completely immersed into an alien world. Also, the Rancor sequence is AWESOME. I thought the Ewoks were a cool little addition too and the whole forest battle with the Stormtroopers was fun eventhough some of the effects are very out-dated. Ghost Anakin at the end was a nice touch too and holy shit did he look just like Hayden Christensen.

This is easily my favorite in the OT. Just so enjoyable. What is wrong with having cute creatures in a movie? It is a family movie, after all. R2 is cute, but no one complains about him saving the day all the time.

Empire was my absolute favorite for a long time until I re watched all of them a little over a year ago. The fight at the end is what puts it above for me. BARELY though.

And to Magnus' point, if it were Wookies instead like I believed was the initial idea, it would be everyone's favorite hands down. People give the Ewoks too much shit.

Would Wookiees being there fix the awful Jabba stuff and the lax Endor pacing? If so, sure.

It's 30 minutes of people sitting around doing nothing, followed by a short action scene (and then followed by 40 more minutes of people doing nothing).

I actually like the Special Edition musical number because, bad as it is, it actually shocks some life into the thing.

Nothing is wrong with cute characters. Having these creatures be invincible and win a ground battle with sticks and rocks - it requires too much jump in logic.

The same goes for droid torture in Jabba's palace. Zero sense.
