Attack of the Clones is an average film, but it could have been good.

I like his first video, but I still prefer the original of this one.

Re: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
I still really like this one after watching it last night. I love the mysteries and the end battles are awesome. I think the love story only truly gets awkward when Anakin says "I'm haunted by the kiss that you never should have given me". I don't understand the hate for the sand line. And his mothers death is very emotional.
Really, if they'd fine tuned the romantic parts, this would be better liked.
Oh, and Yoda is a badass.

Yoda versus Christopher Lee still plagues my memory. Some things you just can't un-see.

Re: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
This is still the most underrated Star Wars film. The bad parts like some of the love scenes and Anakin's acting are over exaggerated as to just how bad they are. There are a few lines and scenes that aren't great, but they far from derail the movie. The opening chase through Coruscant, Obi Wan's plotline with the cloners, the stuff with Anakin's mom on Tatooine and the end stuff on Geonosis is all great stuff.

This is the worst of the SW films IMO. Worse than Menace.

STAR WARS EPISODE II ATTACK OF THE CLONES
When I first watched this I love love loved it. There was so much to love about it. This soundtrack is so good. Probably the best and then comes TPM and then ROTS if it's just between those. I liked all the various worlds and creatures and costumes. I liked the return trip to Tattoine and Anakin going crazy. The battle on Geonosis was just amazing at the time. Mace v Jango. Dooku v Anakin+Obi. Dooku v Yoda. Let me say, I worked at a theatre when this came out and everytime Yoda v Dooku took place the early crowds erupted. It was insanity and I loved that. The good ole days. Not as much Jar Jar. The obvious painful stuff is the clunky dialogue and deliver of the fake romance and the just bad acting by Portman. She failed here. I don't think I'd fast forward too much in this film as much as I'd want to in TPM or ROTS. So...

Re: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
4K does not do the Star Wars prequels any favors. It's a lot worse in Phantom Menace, but even here there are a lot of instances where characters look like stickers either because they are outdated CGI put onto a live background or a live character put onto an outdated CGI background. It's very jarring. That combined with the still-awful romantic dialogue between Anakin and Padme, Senator Jar Jar, the blind Jedi, etc.. make Attack of the Clones an easy target for worst Star Wars movie.
Yet, the last 45 minutes of this movie are still completely exhilarating even without mind-blowing effects. Geonosys is still one of the best battles ever put on film, with the conflict continuing to escalate all the way until Yoda v Dooku ends in a stalemate. So this puts it above Menace for me, and I'd still give the movie an A- even with all of the so-easy to make fun of script issues it undeniably has.

Re: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
My main problem is for many years I struggled with what the Clone Wars was and why it needed to happen. I understand from the wiki article that Palpatine uses it to gain "emergency control", but at the end of the first movie he already used the crisis to become Chancellor, so why can't he just have just used that rise of power to become a dictator? As long as he had some sort of power in the 3rd movie he could do Order 66 and set things in motion. As with Lucas putting in the trade blockade in the first movie, it's Star Wars dude, you don't have to go that deep in terms of the politics. It's a waste of a movie and they just needed something to do that created CGI battle porn while Anakin and Padme hook up. Compared to Empire Strikes Back or Last Jedi (love it or hate it) where the second part had a lot of important events, in the prequel trilogy almost everything important happens in the first and third movie except for the romance.

Re: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
Well, it’s never made clear whether Palps knew about the clone army. Dooku acts like he didn’t even though he hired the guy whose DNA was used. I think the story is better that way cause at first it seems like his plot is only to kill Padme and use the sympathy from that gain more power- basically the same as the first movie. The clone army opens an opportunity for Palpatine to gain even more power than he could have guessed alongside the support of the Jedi and Senate, which he definitely wouldn’t have had otherwise.
If Palpy did know about the clone army then yeah, his takeover could have been engineered without any of this.

Re: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
Dooku was a much better villain and the story has a better flow integrating action with drama very well. Ewan McGregor is easily the best part of this movie and ofcourse the Yoda fight scene is good (somehow I always felt it could have been better). The chemistry between McGregor and Christensen comes out better than between Portman and Christensen which brings this movie down specially in the middle half. The visuals are really good here but I felt they could have gone a little different with Clones design even though we know how they will look like in future.
