What would be the best way to describe this film to someone? I'd say it's Reservoir Dogs mixed with Hostel and a touch of Severance. The movie is a very dark comedy about a robbery gone wrong and the robbers as well as the hostages they've taken being stalked by insane murderous twins of whom one believs to be Ivan the Terrible and the other is a religious nut, keen on brutally sacrificing people. It's loaded with blood and gore, as well as with lots of quirky characters and some nasty traps. Stephen Dorff does a decent job playing the lead man here and there are quite a couple of absurdly funny scenes. Sadly, however, much like last year's Black Sheep, Botched misses many opportunities to be really outragous and funny as some of the films it copies actually are. At times, it is just too tame and the killers are just not very memorable. Some good humor opportunities were missed here, while other were just too obvious to be very funny. Overall, I was quite entertained and I think any fan of horror comedies will enjoy this to an extent (Joe, I'm looking at you), but it's not the creme de la creme of the genre, but much rather an entertaining run-of-the-mill effort.
