Bezzerides, based on the Mickey Spillane Mike Hammer mystery novel Kiss Me, Deadly. Kiss Me Deadly is often considered a classic of the noir genre. The film grossed $726,000 in the United States and a total of $226,000 overseas.
Kiss Me Deadly marked the film debuts of both actresses Cloris Leachman and Maxine Cooper.

Re: Kiss Me Deadly Visually, it's probably as good as film-noirs get, and the mystery is so intriguing and bizarre that you can't help but be drawn in despite (or perhaps because of) its strangeness. The characters and acting and situations are all noir down to a tee, but it's the 'great whatsit' that really makes this film special. The ending is quite terrific. Overall, it's not perfect, but it's pretty damn close.
