Quote:
A Boy and His Dog is a 1975 post-apocalyptic science fiction film directed by L. Q. Jones and based on the Harlan Ellison short story of the same title, which originally appeared in 1969. A revised and expanded version was printed in Ellison's 1976 story collection The Beast that Shouted Love at the Heart of the World, and Ellison continued the story in the graphic novel Vic and Blood. The film version is often cited as an inspiration for George Miller's Mad Max though Miller has said he didn't view Jones' film until after he had completed his own. The movie was also distributed after the initial run under the name, "Psycho Boy and His Killer Dog" among other titles.

Post Re: A Boy and His Dog
At last my eternal search is over. Never again will I have to wonder is there such things as telepathic dogs with the ability to sniff out women, or that there is a strange wonderous world where Don Johnson can play a lead character without me having flashes of Miami Vice and strange nights in hotels with stacks of porn assulting my frontal lobe.

Granted old Don does play true to his real form at points wailing to his canine friend about how he hasn't had sex in 6 weeks and needs a new woman before going completely batty, and its amusing to find out even in a post-apocalyptic wasteland that the Dog still finds time to be a grammer Nazi when Don screws up on the pronounciation................................I guess the dog read Riddley Walker and the thought of a world with English resembling the consistancy of mushy pea's was to scary to allow happen.

Mad Max channelled through bad dope and an episode of the Twilight Zone, yup this is one odd film but it least one could never accuse it of being formulaic.
