Well-acted, funny, and touching drama in which John Cusack (and Joan too for that matter) give great performances. Nice to see Oliver Platt too.

Grade - B+

MARTIAN CHILD - 8/10 (B+)

A very pleasant surprise! It's really touching and enjoyable. An excellent family film. I loved Amanda Peet in it. A certain death was very sad.

If you put K-Pax and About a Boy in a blender, you'd get Martian Child.

It was decently acted, but I'm not sure the movie really grabbed me. At times it seemed rather plodding and pointless. I think the movie lost me a bit when they tried to imply that the kid really was from Mars, or tried to leave the viewer guessing as if he really was (kind of like K-Pax, if memory serves me correctly).

Anyhow, it wasn't terrible... it wasn't great... it was just "there".

Grade: C
