The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)
The Man Who Knew Too MuchQuote: The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) is a suspense film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring James Stewart and Doris Day. The film is a remake in widescreen VistaVision and Technicolor of Hitchcock's 1934 film of the same name.
In the book-length interview Hitchcock/Truffaut (1967), Hitchcock told fellow filmmaker François Truffaut that he considered his 1956 remake to be superior, saying that the 1934 version was the work of a talented amateur, the 1956 version the work of a professional, but still he preferred the 1934 version due to its roughness.
The film won an Academy Award for Best Song for "Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)," sung by Doris Day at several points in the action. It was also entered into the 1956 Cannes Film Festival.

A
Doesnt break any new ground in its plot, but damn, what an awesome, entertaining, and fun film. Its Hitch being Hitch at his finest. Introduce the everyday man, introduce the murder plot, watch the characters unravel everything and come out the heroes.
In particular the no dialogue orchastra scene, just awesome. Also loved the close-ups in here, so creepy.
Love it. Maybe one of my faves from the man.

I saw this once. I was about 12 (maybe younger), I was staying at my grandmother's house and watched this in the middle of the night while everyone slept. I definitely enjoyed it quite a bit, but I've been downgrading it in my mind for years, perhaps unfairly. I should give it a another look.

It was on TV just the other night and my wife and I watched part of it and then turned it off. Can't stand Doris Day. It is enjoyable, but on a Hitchcock scale, it's mediocre. I gave it a C because it's worth watching but not worth rewatching.

Enjoyable and entertaining, and also a great example of Hitchcock's theories of suspense.
I liked the two finales, but in a whole, the film lacks substance (especially when compared to other works of him).
A lot of films in the last 20 years have taken the structure of this film, it seems.
I also know now where Indiana Jones got his "arabian-market-chase-scene" from. haha
