Its not terribly inventive, and it employs all the tricks in the book but "Alone" is still easily the most terrifying film I have seen this year and I can't see it being topped. Put simply this film is Shock and Awe in audio visual form
I was expecting it in a way, I mean the only reason I tracked this film down was due to it being the follow up to the directing duo's truly stunning "Shutter" and it pulls out the same bag of tricks.
Musical score designed soley to shread nerves - Check
Pale, Freaky Dead Girl present in all Asian horrors - Check
Scares multipling with each passing minute - Check
Film clearly wanting me to die of a heart attack - Check
After around the first 10 minutes of this film the scare quota is relentlessly high, the film goes, hmmmm haven't made the viewer jump in like 40 seconds time for more jump moments and the loudest audio cues ever conceived.
And so it goes for the entire running time. I know I shouldn't adore this film, its about as original as a wheel but it sets out its stall and delivers 100%, and at the end of the day thats the most important thing, and in a horror world currently being killed with Hollywood abortions that completely miss the point of the genre its a welcome oasis in the desert.
I know Lecter will love this Film
