Quote:
Dracula is a 1931 vampire-horror film directed by Tod Browning and starring Bela Lugosi as the title character. The film was produced by Universal and is based on the stage play of the same name by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston, which in turn is based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Some of it is spooky enough, I suppose, but the movie is mostly static and uninvolving.

None of Browning's sound films, save Freaks, carry the wicked melodramatics and sense of dread that permeate the best of his silent work. Maybe he didn't get the medium, or maybe the late Lon Chaney was his muse. Who knows.

Classic, why Dracula became such an icon. Still the weakest of the 30s and 40 horror movies in my opinion. If you get the new DVD check out the spanish version filmed at the nights when they werent making this one, the dracula isnt the same, Bela was the best, but the spanish cinematography and version is much better.

I found it pretty boring. I'll probably have to rewatch it, though.

Saw this in the early 90's. I remember liking it (I had to be like 9 when I saw it), but I don't remember much about it at all. I do remember it wasn't scary in the least, even then. Although, what can you expect from a 80+ year old horror film. Elm Street isn't scary to most people nowadays either. Things change.
