Never saw the first one so I can't really compare but this was a pretty decent if by the numbers horror that on balance deserves a theatrical release in the USA.
It comes off like the bastard melding of Pulse the Ring and Final Destination at points but it's far better then the steaming pile the former was, and any movie which includes Nathan Fillion and Katee Sackhoff gets extra brownie points in my book.
The end is a bit odd, otherwise recommended.

I wasn't. Supposedly this film is actually decent. It was actually "made" a White Noise sequel in post production. It was originally a standalone movie called The Light.

Like Gulli, I still haven't seen the first film and as far as I know they've got nothing to do with each other anyway. It's a pretty solid horror-mystery, though not with much actual "horror". It has some light The Butterfly Effect touch with Final Destination also in the mix. Quite entertaining and it's interesting to see the mystery unfold, though the ending is a bit weird (yet somehow predictable, sadly).

Re: White Noise 2: The Light
Will this movie ever get released in the US? Is there a DVD I can import or something? Does anyone know what Universal's plans are for this?

Supposedly it's going DTV this fall, around Halloween.

Took a bit for me to get into it but it was quite solid and way better than the first. I wasn't crazy about the ending though.

Meh.
Honestly, I liked the original better (minus the first one's atrocious ending, of course).
