Quote:
Omega Doom is a 1996 film by Albert Pyun, starring Rutger Hauer who plays a robot who, during a nuclear winter, plays both sides of a robot civil war against each other in a small town. The film's plot and setting are heavily influenced by the film Yojimbo by Akira Kurosawa, itself believed to be an adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's 1929 novel Red Harvest.

The following is an open letter to Rutger Hauer

Dear Rutger

Now I know the 90s were a barren time for you, the 80s middle ladder roles had dried up and well you had to pay the bills somehow so I can understand you having to take on the shadier ends of the DTV market but still when the script for Omega Doom landed in your lap you must have realized the poison pill you were taking on.

Did the basic plot revolving around the world in war torn turmoil and androids roaming the land remind you in some wierd way of Blade Runner? Don't worry if you say yes I can understand wanting to capture the zenith of your career one more time but Rutger deep down inside you most have known Omega Doom wasn't that movie.

You must have read how the whole bloody movie seems to revolve around a 4 character stand-off in a half-destroyed warehouse? If this was Reservoir Dogs 2 Apocalypse Edition then ok fire away but when the writing displays all the skill of a retarded hamster attempting to write Proust you should have smell the ........hamster droppings.

You should have noticed that beyond the warehouse sections there was nothing more then pissy flashback sequences that shock horror seemed like a bad lift from Blade Runner, how did you fall for this ploy Rutger how?

If you were this desperate for money I'm sure Harrison Ford could have fronted you a few dollars or put you chisilling some wood for one of his woodwork projects, anthing would have been better then Omega Doom

I say farewell now Rutger and wish you well in future knowing that if your zenith was Blade Runner your nadir was Omega Doom.

F
