Open Water 2: Adrift (called Adrift in Australia, called Open Water 2 in Germany) is a thriller filmed entirely in Malta, starring Susan May Pratt, Richard Speight, Jr., Niklaus Lange, Ali Hillis, Cameron Richardson and Eric Dane. Promotional posters claim the film is based on actual events.

It's actually not that bad. I really did not like the original, but this one isn't really about sharks - it's just about survival and what a situation like being stranded in the ocean can do to a group of close friends. And the added effect of having a baby involved in the plot (not in the water, of course) just made me more interested in the film, waiting to see what happened in the end. Unfortunately, the ending sucked. The idea on how to get back on the ship near the end is something so... obvious, I really don't understand how that didn't come into anyone's mind immediately. But otherwise, the film is pretty solid for a DTV flick. Not bad at all. B-

Isn't McSteamy in this movie?

If so, maybe I should give it a try, despite my utter contempt for the first movie. Eric Dane sans shirt for 2 hours is probably worth it.

This doesn't actually have anything to do with Open Water, strange how it got this name. It was released simply as Adrift in Europe.

Yeah, it really has nothing to do with the first film at all. It's obviously attached to Open Water so it'll get more interest than a standard film called "Adrift," but yeah, no sharks, nothing.

Sans all clothing for like half the film. There's too much male nudity in this film.

Heh.

I get the feeling it still wouldn't be as awesome as when McSteamy walked out of the shower at the beginning of the season on Grey's. Every female I know has that like recorded or saved or deeply ingrained within their subconscious, I swear.

I wonder if this will be Baum's 2nd Scariest film of all time

This won't be baumer's 2nd scariest film of all time for one simple reason - no sharks.

However, it does feature several insanely annoying and stupid characters whom I pretty much wished death upon anyway and that's not really a good thing in a film like this. There are some decent scenes, but on the whole a very bland movie.

He's nude in this. Everyone is ;).

Shockingly really good and entertaining. Nowhere near as brilliant as the criminally underrated first for sure, but certainly better than I was expecting. I was in frustratingly extreme suspense a couple of times; pounding the arm of the chair I was sitting in and even looking away. Yes, I yelled at the TV too, something I usually don't do. Anyway, I think the people that hated the first (which sadly is pretty much everyone) will enjoy this one.

Grade: 8/10 (B+)
