This truly is one of the best films of all-time. The script and performances are to die for. Bette Davis and Anne Baxter are brilliant. I also loved George Sanders and Celeste Holm. I just saw it for the first time and it's already one of my favorites. It definitely deserves its status as a classic. Just wonderful!

I recently gave one to DANCER IN THE DARK, but it's rare. It takes a lot for me to give a movie a perfect rating. I haven't given one to any movie this year. I usually don't give more than one a year, and some years I don't even give one. I'll give out other high ratings, but a 10/10 should be sacred . And when I do give one, it's rarely upon first viewing. Sometimes it takes seven before I'll award a movie with one. I know it sounds crazy, but in reality, no matter how great a movie is, they're rarely PERFECT. Granted I've given some to movies that technically aren't perfect but I just find to be amongst my very favorites and they're perfect to me. So I'll even admit my rating system is flawed .


On a sidenote , I would love the chance to see this movie on the big screen someday.

I agree, I give 5/5 pretty regularly to movies I consider "excellent" (I believe I have given 4 of them this year) but I reserve the right to a score a dub simply "a perfect score". It means the film is perfect, not just "excellent". I have given none this year, gave only one last year, and that was only after seeing how truly re-watchable wall-e was.
