Quote:
The Quiet is a 2005 American drama and thriller film directed by Jamie Babbit, and starring Camilla Belle and Elisha Cuthbert. It focuses on a deaf teenage girl, Dot (Belle) who goes to live with her godparents (played by Martin Donovan and Edie Falco) after her father dies, where she slowly learns the disturbing secrets of the family, primarily concerning their teenage daughter, Nina (Cuthbert).

The film was acquired by Destination Films, which released this film in the United States theatrically through Sony Pictures Classics on August 25, 2006, and marketed with the tagline: "Isn't it time everyone hears your secrets?".

The film's soundtrack features songs by Low, Cat Power, Le Tigre, and numerous Beethoven piano sonatas.

Many reviewers complained that it was sleazy, exploitative, and difficult to watch, and that it was too serious to be satire, yet too camp to be taken seriously. Despite receiving poor reviews, the film made a respectable profit.

Pretty awful. This film is just freakin' random and awkward, from Elisha Cuthbert having sex with her dad (which I know is a major point in the story, but I forgot what it was about) to Shawn Ashmore explaining, in detail, an erection he had. The dialogue is almost too horrible to bear (I don't usually complain about this kinda stuff, but...), the plot is predictable and stupid, the performances are generally weak, the film is ridiculously clichéd, and the portrayal of high school is totally offbeat.

I saw it at the theatre during its run and thought it was interesting and well-acted. Nothing too original, though. A solid B.

I thought it was an incredibly interesting little thriller with great performances from Elisha Cuthbert and Camilla Belle. I'd give it a strong B+.

The script is a total train wreck. So frustrating. I wanted to like it, but no.

Great idea having Camilla Belle play a deaf chick.

Outside of total hotness from the leads the film was tripe.
