THE DARKEST HOUR
I thought it was an interesting type of alien that was created but the film was very slow for me. It just seemed to go on and on trying to figure out what to do with the characters. I liked the electrical engineer segment and the fights with the creatures toward the end. I didn't like how it was a setup type picture or one that features an unfinished conclusion.

 Re: The Darkest Hour
Review: http://www.worldofkj.com/article.php?i=565The last shot of this movie is so bizarre in 3-D. It's meant to be this rousing image of a sea vessel going towards the sunset, but the 3-D gives it this incredibly cramped, distorted appearance. Almost headache inducing.

 Re: The Darkest Hour
I must say, though: as mediocre as this movie is, its cold opening on Christmas Day is going to earn it way worse reviews than it deserves. It has a bit of quirky, campy charm.

I just don't really get why Emile Hirsch went from Into the Wild and Milk...to this.

 Re: The Darkest Hour
This kinda sucked. I thought it started out somewhat entertaining but quickly became rather dull. Emile Hirsch is surprisingly bad in it too.

The Darkest Hour
Yuck, yuck, yuck. My God, what shit.
Full of cliched dialogue, plotholes, thinly written characters and abysmal acting, The Darkest Hour makes Battle: Los Angeles look Oscar worthy.
There's nothing in this movie that hasn't been done before in any other alien invasion movie, and the script is one of the worst I've ever had the misfortune of listening to. Everybody in this cannot act, and worst of that group is Emile Hirsch; he just has an acting ability and style for low-level, Saturday morning television. I get him mixed up with Taylor Kitsch sometimes (probably the similar surnames and both being in shit movies), but they're the new generation of terrible actors attempting to make it at the big time. Everybody in this movie seemed to be prepared for action, nobody was scared, they all worked out the aliens' motives and weaknesses within minutes, and it was just such a lazy piece of work in that respect. I could continue with my review, but I'm not bothered anymore, it is just awful.
It's a shame really, because the trailer and poster made it look half decent. It at least grabbed my attention a little over a year ago. I only caught up with it now, and I'm glad I never wasted money on this at the cinema.

 Re: The Darkest Hour
Just shit. Doesn't even deserve me getting deeper into it. Emile Hirsch, why?
