A Knight's Tale
A Knight's TaleQuote: A Knight's Tale is a 2001 American action-adventure film directed, produced, and written by Brian Helgeland. The film stars Heath Ledger, Shannyn Sossamon, Mark Addy, Alan Tudyk, Rufus Sewell, Paul Bettany as Geoffrey Chaucer, and James Purefoy as Sir Thomas Colville/Edward, the Black Prince. The film follows the story of William Thatcher, a peasant masquerading as a knight, along with his companions in the world of medieval jousting. William poses as a knight and competes in tournaments, winning accolades and acquiring friendships with such historical figures as Edward, the Black Prince of Wales and Geoffrey Chaucer. The film takes its title from Chaucer's "The Knight's Tale" in his Canterbury Tales, though the plot of the movie bears no resemblance to that tale. The film was a box office success, garnering $117,487,473 with a budget of just over $41 million. Another awful film! And it's boring as all hell. D

I haven't seen it in a while, but it wasn't that bad. I'd probably give it a B- or so.

excel is that a good thing or a bad thing?
It was a deliberate decision on the director to mix modern stuff into the story. He wanted to impart it to the audience that that people of the time didn't know they were making history, they were just living their lives normally.
A drama major friend from long ago summed it up best: Shakespeare's plays weren't written in all that convoluted grammar langauge. At the tme, it was the script to Basic Instinct.
Oh, and Knight's Tale is a B-. Pretty enjoyable, some Ledger eye candy.

It's pretty entertaining, even though very silly. Paul Bettany makes a very impressive and funny appearance, but Rufus Sewell's villain is as bland as it gets. The jousting scenes are great and as silly as they are, I liked the idea of modern songs being implemented into the film. Pretty good when you're bored and looking for some really loghtweight entertainment.

I can't believe all these negative reviews! There has not been a more enjoyable "summer movie" released in the five years since this came out. I'll never get sick of this flick. It's marvelous.
