District 13 (French: Banlieue 13) is a 2004 French action film directed by Pierre Morel and written and produced by Luc Besson. It has also been released as District B13 and Barrio 13 (Australia DVD release) It has also been known as B13 on French posters used to advertise the film.

The film is notable for its depiction of parkour in a number of stunt sequences that were completed without the use of wires or computer generated effects. Because of this, some critics have drawn comparisons to the popular Thai film Ong-Bak.

David Belle, a founder of parkour, appears in the film as one of its protagonists, Leïto.

For anyone who appreciated the full-on story-driven action of Ong Bak, I can heartily recommend the hard core physicality of DB13!

Intense, or what!?!

The two lead dudes are awesome - kicking, vaulting, and improvising their way out of crazy trouble.

The only thing I regret is that they didn't play up the sci-fi politics a bit more, but what the heck - the ethical point is driven home in the end...

5 out of 5.

The beginning sequence (the escape) is one of the fastest paced action sequences I have seen in years.

while i enjoy both ong bak and db13 bradley, neither film is story driven at all.

ong bak is more of a generic kik ass video game than anything else. ... a plot to keep the action going ... like hero needs to save the princess ...

It seems I was the only one who enjoyed the stories in these movies...

Whoa.

District B13 is insane. Some of the best action sequences I've ever seen in a film, period. That opening "escape" scene is just craazy. The whole movie doesn't match the beginning in terms of action, but it's still a fun ride.

Fuckin' awesome! Some of the best action, ever. The movie is pretty and it isn't too heavy on plot, but it's more than satisfying as it is. The only real complaint I can conjure up is the bland repetitive music used during the action. But the action is usually so flashy that I didn't even notice too much.

More folks need to see this. As far as pure action-filmmaking goes, this is hard to top.
